About us

Why We Exist

Today’s students and early-career professionals are entering a global workforce that’s fast-moving and deeply interconnected. But too often, access to international experience, mentoring, and guidance is limited by geography, privilege, or politics. Mentorship should be open to all.
That's why we created a model that’s accessible, proven, and transformative—delivering personalized guidance, mindset-shifting learning, and real-world relevance to the next generation of professionals and leaders.
“As the U.S. began pulling back from international education and global engagement, I felt compelled to act–to help students develop the career-ready global competencies they’ll need to compete successfully in the workforce.”

Open Mindset Does Things Differently

We’re a nonprofit mentorship and professional development program that connects students and recent grads with accomplished mentors—“Global Gurus”—while providing structured skill-building courses to help them acquire career-ready global competencies.
Mentorship programs are proven to expand potential and increase job placements for rising professionals. But few programs are designed to prepare students with the skills to succeed in a complex and diverse global community.

Traditional Mentorship

Access depends on personal networks or elite programs
Informal, unstructured, and often short-lived
Often limited to local or in-industry connections
No shared learning baseline between mentor and mentee
Mentorship impact is rarely measured

Our Approach

Students are matched with mentors based on personality, goals, and global experience
Built around a structured, semester-long mentorship model that’s flexible but focused
Our Global Gurus span continents, industries, and cultural perspectives
Students alternate between asynchronous online learning curriculum and scheduled virtual mentoring sessions
We close every engagement with feedback, reflection, and certification
